My friends are all staying in the interior room. I cant decide between the ocean view & Interior. Looks like only differance is a window that doesnt open.. seems to have same sq ft. Need advise from someone who has been or seen both rooms.. its about 100 more person though, is it worth it??

I have not been on Carnival Liberty but I have been on many other ships to qualify my answer to your question.

Interior rooms are the cheapest because they don't have a window. Usually they have a curtain over a frame on the opposite wall of the door, to give you the feeling there is a window. The Interior rooms are the cheapest and preferred by the people who dont' want to spend that much on rooms (Because it's very unlikely that you will be spending too much time in your stateroom) You come in to change, shower and sleep. That's usually it. But let me warn you.. at night when you sleep, it's totally pitch black dark.. in an oceanview room, you'll get some light in your room... and in the morning... in the inside room.. forget it!

If you can afford it and you are not Claustrophobic, then I would upgrade to at least an Ocean View room. Usually the room is little bigger (even a 20 Sq ft larger room seems a lot bigger in reality) But even if they are same size having a window makes a difference. I'd avoid Port Hole rooms and go with the Picture Window (Square/rectangular window) room. Having sunlight and be able to look outside makes the room feel bigger and it's more fun.

My preference is to upgrade to balcony room. Yes it costs more.. but I've reasoned it by saying that how often will I visit these ports/islands? Not very often so I want to be able to enjoy the view.. Rooms are definitely larger for the balcony rooms.. And there is just something awesome about having breakfast on the balcony overlooking nothing but water... just hearing waves breaking..

But yes it does cost more money.. so going back to your question, I would upgrade to a oceanview room (Picture window, not port holes)

Stay middle of the ship, middle decks if you get seasick.. if not.. get the highest deck in the front of the ship as much as you can afford. (travelocity, expedia usually offers free upgrades... if you buy lower deck cabin, they upgrade you to the higher decks.. so look out for those deals)

And have fun!

It depends how much you will be in the room. Some people are basically only in the room to sleep, so the upgrade really isn't worth it. You also have to consider the location of the room, which will be better for you. Usually, the ocean views are in a better location.

For me a verandah or ocean view is always a good upgrade. If you are paying the money to cruise, you want to be able to see the water, at least that is how I feel about it. Also consider, if you have no window, it will become difficult to tell what time of the day it is. You may end up sleeping later, etc. Not a problem for most, but can be for others.

Staterooms are pretty small, especially if you have 2 or more people. I think that the window helps to "open" the room up a little. Just a little view outside can help you feel like the room is a little larger, so the room doesn't start to close in.

Really, in the end, it is just your preference. To some the upgrade isn't worth it, to others it is. If you want the view from your room, you can upgrade, if not, don't. Just talk with your friends and majority wins.

It's not a big difference in price, so you just need to consider your options and weigh the pros and cons.

Hope this helps!

The window is just a little peep hole like you said. How much time will you spend in your cabin anyway?

If you can afford a balcony room, get it. Otherwise, go with the interior. Not all interior rooms are the same though. Check to make sure the room is more than just a little closet.
